American biologist who with Francis Crick proposed a spiral model, the double helix, for the molecular structure of DNA. He shared a 1962 Nobel Prize for advances in the study of genetics.

This tale focuses on a mischievous pig named Mercy who goes for her usual Saturday ride with Mr. Watson, and has quite an adventure. It starts when the next-door neighbor, Baby, pops up in the backseat, having stowed away there in hopes of sharing in the folly of a car ride with a pig. Commotion ensues at the discovery of the surprise guest, and Mercy seizes the opportunity to take the wheel and speed down the highway. The rich vocabulary of the text, the retro [Latin, Back; backward; behind.] A prefix used to designate a prior condition or time.  look of the illustrations (including the pink 1959 Cadillac they drive), and the sheer fun of the tale will delight young children.
