Dhoni's Hummer draws Rs 100 fine.

TEAM India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the highest earning cricketer in the world at the moment, will be poorer by Rs 100 when he visits his home town Ranchi next.

Jharkhand's state transport department has decided to impose a fine on the star cricketer for his failure to get his new sports utility vehicle, Hummer H2, registered in the state. A transport official said one had to get a new vehicle registered in the state within seven days of its purchase, otherwise the buyer would have to shell out additional Rs 100 in fine.

That's not all. If Dhoni is found taking a joyride in his ' prized possession' without getting proper registration papers, he will have to pay another fine of Rs 4,500 as per the rules.

Dhoni, who was recently rated by the Forbes magazine as the top earner of the game beating the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, had reportedly applied for the registry of his Rs 1 crore- vehicle soon after he brought it to Ranchi on July 30 this year.

Sources said since he could not attach the insurance papers at that time, the SUV's registry could not be done. Since then, he has been away from Ranchi because of Team India's official engagements or his personal commitments like shooting for ad films.

This was, however, not the first time when Dhoni has been fined in his adopted home state.

In 2006, a traffic constable had fined him for driving a car with tinted window panes, which was banned in Jharkhand.

Dhoni was reportedly unaware of the ban at that time. The erstwhile state government later allowed him to use dark window panes because of his celebrity status.

Dhoni, who loves to ride bikes on the outskirts of Ranchi whenever he is home, has a number of cars and motorcycles in his possession.

But his movement was recently restricted because of security concerns.
