Developer of Magnolia Place Condo Complex Settles Construction Defect Case for $3.8 Million.

LONG BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 17, 2002

A settlement agreement in the amount of $3.8 million was reached today between Guy Gagnon, owner-builder of the upscale Magnolia Place condominium complex in Long Beach, CA, and the Magnolia Place Homeowners Association to end the lawsuit against the developer against the association for construction defects.

The lawsuit brought by the association will continue against 40 subcontractors for in excess of $7 million in damages. The trial will commence in Long Beach on July 8. According to according to

Richardson said the lawsuit was filed against the developer and subcontractors in October of 1999 because of a vast array of defects resulting from defective construction and violation of numerous building codes. The 82-unit, four-story complex was built in 1990 and is located at 535 Magnolia Avenue.
