and balance sheet management," said David Folkerts-Landau, Deutsche Bank's Global Head of Research. "This convergence is providing new opportunities for institutions of all kinds. By leveraging our expertise across the financial market spectrum, our new organizational model for research will enable clients to seize these new investment opportunities."

"This new product model will allow us to stay ahead of the curve in providing research that is thought-leading, differentiated and of relevance to our institutional clients," said David Manlowe, Head of US Companies Research. "Robert's move to cover companies from an enterprise perspective is the first of many such initiations we aim to achieve by combining the talents of three areas of research."

Led by Rubin, the Electric Utilities team expects to provide a balanced perspective which takes into account the best interests of all stakeholders in the companies they cover. "We hope to help the credit community appreciate the need for companies to ensure positive shareholder momentum, while helping shareholders understand the need for a strong balance sheet," said Rubin.

In the report entitled "Bring the Pain", which highlights opening thoughts towards the sector, Rubin and his colleagues discuss how a strong credit profile can be a competitive advantage and whether financial reengineering is the "next strategic thing." In addition, the report discusses determining opportunities within credit markets and equity markets. Rubin believes that within equity markets dividends should be considered the primary driver of value but there are also value opportunities in companies establishing appropriate balance sheet targets and achieving higher than standard earnings growth.
