Deutsch to lead Downtown Alliance.

Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of the Brooklyn Navy Yard The United States Navy Yard, New York - better known as the Brooklyn Navy Yard or the New York Naval Shipyard (NYNSY) - is located 1.7 miles northeast of the Battery on the Brooklyn side of the East River in Wallabout Basin, a semicircular bend of the East River  Development Corp., has been named as its new president.

"We are tremendously pleased to have Eric Deutsch assume the helm of the' Downtown Alliance at such an important time in Lower Manhattan's history," said Robert R. Douglass, chairman of the Downtown Alliance.

"His vast experience and knowledge in economic development, job creation and community building, and his work with all levels of government make him an ideal leader for the next phase of Downtown's redevelopment."

Deutsch is tentatively scheduled to begin serving in his new position on Nov. 1. He replaces Carl Weisbrod, who resigned as of July 1 to take the position of executive vice president of Trinity Church Trinity is a commonly used name for Christian churches, especially within the Anglican and Russian Orthodox traditions.

 and president of Trinity Real Estate division. Weisbrod had served as president of the Downtown Alliance since 1995.

 process forward." Deutsch is departing the BNYDC, where he managed the 300-acre, 3.5 million-square-foot industrial park for the city of New York since 2002.

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg said, "During Eric's tenure as president of the Brooklyn Navy Yard, he oversaw the creation of a strategic plan for the expansion of the Navy Yard that will result in the creation of 1 million square feet of commercial, industrial and retail space, and grew total Navy Yard net revenues ten-fold from $400,000 to $4 million and total employment from 3,000 to 4,500.

He also facilitated the development of Steiner Studios, a $100 million, 280,000-square-foot film and television studio, which is now the largest sound stage on the east coast.
