This book tells the story of President Barack Obama's campaign from its launch in February 2007 to election day, through the experiences of individuals who elected him, to illustrate how he won. Madigan follows the campaign across the country during the primaries, and talks to different people about their views on the Bush presidency, Hurricane Katrina, the Iraq War, and Obama, as well as what McCain supporters think and how the Obama campaign successfully used media and technology. There is no bibliography. Madigan, presidential writer in residence and professor at Roosevelt U., has written about politics as a journalist for 40 years.
