Active Hotels reports that room rates in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and Italy rose 5 percent in the first quarter of 2006. Averaging 96 Euros. Jul 17, 2006 Doubletree Hotel What had been the Claremont Inn in Claremont, California is now the Doubletree Hotel Claremont. As part of the rebranding, the 190-room property underwent an 18-month-long renovation costing $10 million. The franchised Doubletree has 12,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space and has comp Wi-Fi in the lobby and public spaces and a 24-hour self-service business center. Jul 17, 2006 Heathman Hotel In Portland, the Heathman Hotel originally opened in 1927, completed a $2.5 million renovation of all 150 guestrooms and public spaces. Property offers comp HSIA in guestrooms and Wi-Fi in public areas plus use of a PC and printer on the mezzanine level. Jul 17, 2006 Holiday Inn A re-flag in Indy - but it's all in the family. The Holiday Inn Select at Indianapolis International becomes a Crowne Plaza this fall. Both brands belong to InterContinental. The hotel is located just off the Airport Expressway and I-465. Jul 17, 2006 Marriott India's hot - figuratively and literally. As flyers to the country know all too painfully, there simply aren't enough good hotel rooms to accommodate demand. This may help. Courtyard by Marriott has opened a 238-room property in Chennai, near the city's Trade Center. Room rates are a very businesslike $150 to $225 USD, plus tax. Dubbed "Chi Bar," the place is done in shades of cobalt blue and amber, with deep mahogany wood paneling. Chi bar offers some extraordinary views of the Chicago River and Lake Michigan. Jul 17, 2006 Travellodge Covent Garden Covent Garden (kŭv`ənt), area in London historically containing the city's principal fruit and garden market and the Royal Opera House. The market was established in 1671 by Charles II on the site of the abbot of Westminster's convent garden, from which the area's name is derived. in London has a new hotel. It's not in Covent Garden exactly, a mere five-minute walk away, but in fact is the old Trust House Forte building just off High Holborn Holborn: see Camden, England. in Drury Lane Drury Lane, street and district of London, at first a place of fine residences, among which was that of the Drury family. It was the site of the original Drury Lane Theatre, which was built by Thomas Killigrew in 1663 under a charter from Charles II and called the Theatre Royal. After burning down (1672), the theater was rebuilt (1674) with Christopher Wren as architect. It was again rebuilt (1791–94) and again burned down (1809).. This, the 298th Travelodge has been opened by Sir Rocco Forte who founded the concept back in 1985. Time marches on and old wars are forgotten Sir Rocco now very much in command of the up-market group which takes his name. For him to return to old memories was a notable act. The Covent Garden Travelodge has 184 bedrooms and follows the successful concept with bright modern rooms and a choice of smoking and nonsmoking accommodations. The hotel has a licensed bar cafe offering breakfast menu, snacks throughout the day and evening meals. The latest entry is the Westin Boston Waterfront. It's on the South Boston waterfront, close to the financial district, Logan International and downtown. The property is connected to the new 1.6 million-square-foot Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. Coming soon: the InterContinental Boston.
