Hyatt Hotels & Resorts has announced the opening of the 202-room Hyatt Regency Dushanbe, its first hotel in Tajikistan. The only hotel in the city bearing an international brand, Hyatt Regency Dushanbe is located in the city center on the main Ismoili Somoni Avenue by the grounds of the City Park, is adjacent to Lake Komsomol, and near the Ismaili Center-Jamatkhana and the new Presidential Palace. The hotel is in close proximity to the city[sup.1]s embassies, government offices and ministries, and is a 15-minute drive from Dushanbe International Airport. Designed by the Columbus, Ohio, office of global architectural firm, NBBJ, in conjunction with HAS Architects Ltd. of Istanbul, the hotel, which is one of the area[sup.1]s tallest buildings, boasts a z-shaped exterior, which is a distinctive, modern addition to the city. The Leela Palaces, Hotels & Resorts announced the soft opening of its first property in northern India -- The Leela Kempinski Gurgaon, Delhi (N.C.R.). Located just a short drive from the Indira Ghandi International Airport, the hotel and residences will provide more than 320 luxury guestrooms and suites. There will also be 90 one-, two- and three-bedroom residences, making it the only property in the region with a full spectrum of accommodation solutions. The Leela Kempinski Gurgaon, Delhi (N.C.R.) is the first Leela property in northern India and the first managed property for the group. Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts opened two new properties on March 2, 2009 -- Shangri-La[sup.1]s Boracay Resort and Spa, Philippines, and the Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo, bringing the total number of hotels in the network to 62. Shangri-La[sup.1]s Boracay Resort and Spa is the first five-star international resort on Boracay Island. The 219-room resort features 36 villas and suites and is located in the northern part of Boracay Island. The secluded setting includes 3,800 feet of pristine beachfront and 28 acres of grounds home to numerous wildlife species. Designed by renowned Hawaii-based architect firm, WATG, with interiors by Singapore-based LTW Design Works, the spacious guestrooms and villas are finely furnished with ethnic Filipino decor and native materials. Each room connects to a balcony where guests can take in panoramic views of the resort[sup.1]s private beach.
