Mandarin Oriental;s first Eastern European hotel has opened its doors in Prague. The 99-room property originally a 14th century Dominican monastery is located in the historic Mala Strana district on the left bank of the Vltava. It is just steps away from some famous landmarks including the Charles Bridge and St Nicholas Cathedral. The hotel comprises three buildings centered around a garden and features a mix of Baroque and Asian architecture. Virgin Trains has achieved a new train speed record on the 401-mile route from Glasgow - London with a nonstop journey time of three hours and 55 minutes - an impressive average speed of 102.5 mph - beating the previous verified southbound speed record of four hours and 14 minutes set by British Rail's Advanced Passenger Train The Advanced Passenger Train (APT) was an experimental tilting High Speed Train developed by British Rail during the 1970s and early 1980s, which did not enter regular service.  in the 1980s.
