Destination Florida chooses American Express to provide on-line bookings for travelers to Florida.


ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 4, 1996--Destination Florida (DF), the interactive travel magazine for Florida-bound travelers, has forged a strategic alliance with American Express American Express (NYSE: AXP), sometimes known as "AmEx" or "Amex", is a diversified global financial services company, headquartered in New York City. The company is best known for its credit card, charge card and traveler's cheque businesses.  Travel to provide real-time, on-line booking of airfare, rental cars and accommodations on its America See ITS.  Online site (Keyword: Florida) and its World Wide Web site at http://www.goflorida.com

Visitors to the popular Florida supersites will be able to make secure booking arrangements while using Destination Florida to plan their trip. The free-to-use on-line magazine combines comprehensive travel information with feature stories culled from some of the top journalists in the state of Florida and was recently selected as a "Member's Choice" award recipient from America Online See AOL.  customers.

The booking capabilities will be available in early December 1996.

American Express, the world's largest travel agency, will assist Destination Florida visitors with such services as handling air reservations, changes and cancellations, missed flights and helping customers who need assistance booking the trip.

Destination Florida's departments and regular features include Things to See and Do (arranged geographically as North, South, Central & The Keys); The Scene (a one-stop information resource page); Hot Deals (special offers and discounts available through DF); monthly contests; and What's Hot, "a guide to the new, the cool, the unexpected and sometimes, even the cheap."

Destination Florida is a joint venture of Knight-Ridder Inc. and The Tribune Co., which, between them, own seven Florida newspapers. Additional content is provided by Pineapple Press and regional F.W. Scripps newspapers.
