Granted university status in 1992, Robert Gordon University currently has approximately 12,790 students<ref name="HESA" /> at its two campuses at Garthdee , Aberdeen The title of the conference is 'Design Connexity'. The term 'connexity' (Mulgan, 1998) reflects the moral challenges raised by the increasing connectedness between the social, economic and environmental issues resulting from increasing globalisation. This provides the title for the conference and the backdrop for its themes, which seek to explore the implications of globalisation for design research and practice. Internationally recognised keynote speakers include: Julian Bleecker Julian Bleecker is an artist and technologist with a history developing innovative mobile research projects. Bleecker holds a Ph.D. from the History of Consciousness Program at University of California, Santa Cruz. , from Nokia Design, Los Angeles; Klaus Krippendorff, University of Pennsylvania (body, education) University of Pennsylvania - The home of ENIAC and Machiavelli. http://upenn.edu/.
