An Eastern Consolidated team comprised of senior managing directors Eric M. Anton and Ronald A. Solarz, together with Marcia Rose Yawitz, senior director, represented the seller, Robert Gans, achieving the record-breaking price of $53 million.

"When Diesel's broker Joel Isaacs, president of Isaacs and Company, approached us, we instinctively felt that this building was ideal for Diesel's purposes," said Yawitz. "It was sized right for a single occupant, and its location in burgeoning Chelsea speaks to the company's trendy upbeat demographic."

Constructed in 1910 and significantly upgraded in the 1980's, 220-230 West 19th Street is zoned for both residential and commercial use.

"After working with the seller for almost a decade and marketing the property as a perfect conversion to a residential condominium, the owner decided to convert the property himself," said Anton. "At the eleventh hour, and even after the owner had started demolition for the conversion, we concluded the transaction with Diesel USA, for commercial, as opposed to residential use."
