Designated Trade Officers visit PTEA.


FAISALABAD Faisalabad (fīsäl`əbäd'), formerly Lyallpur (lī`əlpr), city (1998 pop. , June June: see month.  02, 2009 (Balochistan Times) -- Increase in national exports is need of the hour to face the challenges of current world economic recession and the newly designated Trade Officers will play a proactive role in this regard. This was stated by Dr. Yousaf Junaid, leader of a 9-member delegation of Pakistani trade officers posted abroad in a meeting with leading Textile Exporters during their visit to Pakistan Textile Exporters Association here Tuesday. Yousaf said that this delegation is visiting the different industrial cities and holding meetings with trade associations to get the accurate information about our exports so that they could help our exporters to increase our national exports. Addressing the exporters Mr. Zafar Hassan, posted as Counsel General at Shanghai Shanghai (shăng`hī`, shäng`hī`), city (1994 est. pop. 12,980,000), in, but independent of, Jiangsu prov., E China, on the Huangpu (Whangpoo) River where it flows into the Chang (Yangtze) estuary. , China said that their focus would be on the promotion of national exports. Hassan Yousafzai, Trade officer posted to Frankfurt, Germany said that close relations between exporters of the country and trade officers will bring new trade opportunities. Earlier Muhammad Yousaf, Chairman Pakistan Textile Exporters Association welcomed the members of delegation and said that Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA PTEA Preliminary Training Effectiveness Analysis ) is the premier Textile Exporting Association of Home Textiles, Made-Ups and Fabrics. He said that members of the Association are earning $ 4 Billion Foreign Exchange annually through export of textiles. The share of textile in national economy is 62% while this sector is providing 40% jobs, he said. He said that the textile crisis lingering lin·ger

The government has set a target of 11.5 billion Dollars for export of textile for current financial year but due to world economic recession this has been reduced to 9.8 billion dollars even this target is difficult to achieve, he said. He said that they should also identify the trade from which sizeable export orders could be earned. In the end, the trade officers expressed their views and assured the exporters to do their best for the promotion of exports of the country during their stay at their posted countries.
