Design Build--where has it been and where is it heading?In May and June of this year, four breakfast seminars where held at the Union League to discuss the implementation of Design Build in the New York New York, state, United States New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of Region. Several guest speakers were flown in from around the country to speak on the various issues regarding Design Build. The attendance at each breakfast seminar was encouraging given how tough a town New York can be when implementing something different. I wouldn't say Design Build is new, because it's not, but it is a different way of thinking in this geographic region. So where has all the excitement and energy of the seminars gone to? The answer, though seemingly seem·ing adj. Apparent; ostensible. n. Outward appearance; semblance. seem  ing·ly adv. simple, is a complex one. It has gone into further educating our Clients and the Industry on the benefits of this delivery method. It became evident after the Design Build Institute of America Metro Chapter breakfast seminars that until our Clients understand the benefits of Design Build the industry cannot embrace it. It has a population of 7,121,911 out of New York State's total 18,976,457. Were it an independent state, it would be ranked 13th by population. . A Vice President will be responsible for each division and create a series of monthly seminars or informal gatherings that would keep the momentum going in the region. Clients will be able to meet a variety of builders, designers, engineers, and other professionals interested in Design Build. One of our goals will be to instruct in·struct v. in·struct·ed, in·struct·ing, in·structs v.tr. 1. To provide with knowledge, especially in a methodical way. See Synonyms at teach. 2. To give orders to; direct. v. our clients on how to create Design Build pilot projects so that they can learn first hand about the benefits of utilizing the Design Build Delivery Method. The DBIA Metro Chapter will begin implementing these events in early November. To understand nationally the future of Design Build and where it is heading, the National DBIA Convention in Chicago, Illinois could provide you with that overview, Held November 3-5th at the Hilton Chicago, this venue will provide the opportunity to garner perspectives from all different professionals, business owners, clients, builders, and subcontractors as well as how green building design is being incorporated into Design Build. The educational process will take time, but eventually New York City will embrace this delivery method just like the rest of the country but with its own unique star brand of tenacity and talent.
