In addition to its traditionally diverse and expansive program, this year's new elements include an increased emphasis on power management design issues, eight DAC Pavilion panels, two "Best of International Solid-State Circuits Conference International Solid-State Circuits Conference is a global forum for presentation of advances in solid-state circuits and Systems-on-a-Chip. The Conference offers a unique opportunity for engineers working at the cutting edge of IC design to maintain technical currency, and to " special sessions, and an expanded Hands-on Tutorials program.

"With a record number of technical papers and panel submissions--a 30 percent increase from last year--DAC is proud to announce another solid program, offering attendees an even greater opportunity to learn and experience the latest trends, tools and design methodologies in the industry," said Ian Getreu, 40th DAC general chair. "Our goal is to ensure that we deliver the most up-to-date program content that can be applied to current design challenges. This year's focus will emphasize power management methodologies and tools in addition to embedded systems Embedded systems

 and other pressing design issues."

More than 10,000 participants are expected to attend this year's conference, which will showcase more than 170 exhibiting companies and over 200 papers, panels, sessions and tutorials. The conference also will feature two dynamic keynote speakers, as well as various workshops.

Conference attendees will have an opportunity to get up-to-the-minute information on design technology and methodologies that impact their current design processes. For instance, on Monday attendees can participate in the "Design Techniques for Power Reduction" tutorial, the "Introduction to Chips and EDA (1) (Electronic Design Automation) Using the computer to design, lay out, verify and simulate the performance of electronic circuits on a chip or printed circuit board.  for a Non-Technical Audience" workshop, and a DAC Pavilion panel titled "Semiconductor IP Business: Is It Real?"
