Design Automation Conference Announces Call for Papers; 44th DAC will Feature Special Automotive Electronics Theme.

BOULDER, Colo. -- The 44th Design Automation Conference (DAC See D/A converter and discretionary access control.

) invites original technical contributions describing recent and novel research or engineering developments in the area of electronic design automation. The conference will feature a special Automotive Electronics theme, and papers exploring design issues and challenges related to this theme are especially encouraged. The recently released call for papers solicits submissions in 18 topic categories that span all areas of design automation tools and methodologies, silicon solutions and embedded systems Embedded systems

. Details may be found in the call for papers on the DAC Web site.

The Automotive Electronics focus covers a variety of design issues. As manufacturers continue to incorporate more electronic elements into vehicles, the complexity of the overall systems increase as well, leading to a variety of design challenges. Some of the system design issues unique in the automotive industry include the design of safety critical systems with compliance requirements, as well as convenience features, such as the integration of advanced consumer electronic devices including navigation and entertainment systems.

"The size and complexity of automotive systems raises a full range of design issues from system level integration to analog and mixed-signal verification," said Steven P. Levitan, 44th DAC general chair. "We expect this topic will lead to an exciting and diverse set of technical presentations and panel sessions that will be of interest to a wide array of conference attendees."

The submission deadline for regular papers is Monday, November 20, at 5 p.m. MST See micro systems technology. . Authors whose papers are selected will be notified by email by March 9, 2007. Proposals for special sessions, panels and tutorials are due on Wednesday, November 1, at 5 p.m. MST. Selected authors will present their accepted submissions in technical sessions, tutorials and panels at the 44th DAC to be held June 4-8, 2007, at the San Diego Convention Center The San Diego Convention Center is the main convention center for the city of San Diego, California. It is located in the Marina district of downtown San Diego near the Gaslamp Quarter, at 111 West Harbor Drive.  in San Diego.

Students are also invited to submit descriptions of original electronic designs, either at the circuit level or the system level, for the annual student design contest. Winners of the student contest will be presented with their awards at the 44th DAC, and will also be invited to present a poster at ISSCC ISSCC International Solid State Circuits Conference
