Deserving students to get over Rs 192 million as interest-free loans.KARACHI, September 12, 2009 (Frontier Star): An apex Committee for Students Loan Scheme, headed by Mr. Muhammad Kamran Shehzad, Deputy Governor, State Bank of Pakistan The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) is the central bank of Pakistan. While its constitution, as originally laid down in the State Bank of Pakistan Order 1948, remained basically unchanged until January 1, 1974, when the bank was nationalised, the scope of its functions was has approved a sum of Rs 192.391 million for disbursement as interest-free loans to deserving students for higher studies. The amount, which was approved at a meeting of the Committee held in Karachi, is for 1447 deserving students in different disciplines from all over the Country for pursuing Graduation, Masters and PhD studies for 2008-2009 sessions.
