Deserving of the royal touch; VIEWPOINTS.I WOULD like to heartily agree with Sir Geoffrey Inkin Sir Geoffrey David Inkin, OBE is a member of the Judicial Appointments Commission. Inkin is a former commander of the Royal Welch Fusiliers. He was Chairman of the Cardiff Bay Development Corporation from 1987 until 2000. that the Cardiff Barrage has been a massive success. It is hard to believe that Rhodri Morgan Hywel Rhodri Morgan, PC AM (born 29 September 1939) is a Welsh politician; the Labour National Assembly for Wales Member for the constituency of Cardiff West; and the first and current First Minister for Wales (and the second First Secretary for Wales) . still maintains it was a mistake. His obsessive opposition to the barrage almost led to the whole plan being abandoned and delayed the start by more than two years. When he became First Minister he said he would have stopped work had construction not already started. As a result this magnificent piece of engineering has never had the proper official opening it so richly deserves, by the Queen or the Prince of Wales Prince of Wales switches places with his double, poor boy Tom Canty. [Am. Lit.: The Prince and the Pauper] See : Doubles , for example. Its success is there for all to see, except for those who cannot admit they were wrong. David Gorton Ty Mawr Avenue Cardiff |
