Byline: MARK WOODWARD

DURING my many years of devouring de·vour

the metal music press, I have encountered the following quote from an endless number of bands on countless occasions: "If only one person turns up to the show and has a good time, then it will all have been worth it."

Maybe one day Malefice vocalist Dale Butler will settle back on his yacht puffing a big cigar and smile wistfully wist·ful
adj.
1. Full of wishful yearning.

2. Pensively sad; melancholy.

[From obsolete wistly, intently.
when he remembers a wet Tuesday night in Birmingham when less than 20 people ventured to Barfly bar·fly
n. pl. bar·flies Slang
One who frequents drinking establishments.
.

Despite the fact most of us have had more people in our kitchen than were at the Barfly, Butler and his bandmates took it in good heart.

Malefice are a damned fine up-and-coming thrash/ metal band and deserve to go on to bigger things.

Verdict: *****
