Desert Publications Acquires Sand to Sea Magazine; Sand to Sea to be Combined With Palm Springs Life.


PALM SPRINGS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 2, 1999--Milton Jones, president of Desert Publications Inc., and publisher of Palm Springs Life magazine, and Gloria Greer, president and publisher of Sand to Sea magazine, today announced the consolidation of the two magazines by the acquisition of Sand to Sea by Palm Springs Life. Terms of the acquisition were not announced.

Sand to Sea will be a special supplement of Palm Springs Life, June 1999 issue.

Greer will become a consulting executive editor of Palm Springs Life, and will continue her well-known, long-time reporting and commenting on the social, entertainment and cultural activities of all of Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region,  and particularly the Coachella Valley Coachella Valley (kō'əchĕl`ə), arid region, SE Calif., N of the Salton Sea. Water is brought into the region by artesian wells and by the Coachella Canal (123 mi/198 km long), a branch of the All-American Canal built between 1938 and  where she has been a resident for many years.

Greer also will be editor of a new section in Palm Springs Life, "The Desert Charity Register," that will appear initially in the November 1999 issue. This section will be a definitive guide to all of the Coachella Valley's philanthropic phil·an·throp·ic   also phil·an·throp·i·cal

Greer, in addition to being the editor and publisher of Sand to Sea is entertainment editor of KMIR-TV, NBC's Palm Springs affiliate. For 30 years, Greer was a columnist columnist, the writer of an essay appearing regularly in a newspaper or periodical, usually under a constant heading. Although originally humorous, the column in many cases has supplanted the editorial for authoritative opinions on world problems.  and feature writer for the Press Enterprise newspaper of Riverside County. She also has been a columnist for Variety and Daily Variety, and has written for A.P., Newsweek News Service and Town and Country magazine. Greer has been honored with many awards for her journalism and her civic activities including Desert Press Woman of the Year.

In addition to Palm Springs Life, Desert Publications publishes the Desert Guide; The Public Record, an adjudicated weekly business newspaper; the Official Guide to Houston, and hotel in-room Guest Life publications in New Mexico New Mexico, state in the SW United States. At its northwestern corner are the so-called Four Corners, where Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah meet at right angles; New Mexico is also bordered by Oklahoma (NE), Texas (E, S), and Mexico (S). , Monterey Bay, Houston and El Paso El Paso (ĕl pă`sō), city (1990 pop. 515,342), seat of El Paso co., extreme W Tex., on the Rio Grande opposite Juárez, Mex.; inc. 1873. .
