Bowermaster, an adventure and environment writer, takes readers on a tour of Vietnam from the sea, describing the lives of the people, the landscape, and his experiences traveling along the coast of the country. Sometimes solo and sometimes with a team of travelers, which consisted of a photographer (who provides many b&w and color photos), whitewater kayaker, filmmaker, appointed monitor, and Vietnamese- American, he kayaked from Mong Cai on the China border to Hoi An, just south of Da Nang, over several trips from 2000 to 2007, encountering people not used to outsiders.
