Derlan Ships External Fuel Tanks for German Military Helicopters.

Derlan Inc., a leading supplier of military and commercial aircraft components, Monday announced that it has made the first shipment of external fuel tanks to Eurocopter Deutschland GmbH, of Donauworth, Germany.

The fuel tanks are designed to extend the range of German military Sikorsky CH-53 Sea Stallion The CH-53 Sea Stallion is the most common name for the Sikorsky S-65 family of heavy-lift transport helicopters. Originally developed for use by the United States Marine Corps, it is also in service with Germany, Mexico, Iran, Israel, and as the MH-53 Pave Low  helicopters.

The filament-wound composite external fuel tanks are part of a contract for 21 shipsets (42 tanks). They are used in conjunction with the German CH-53G Range Extension Program. Deliveries will be completed by the end of 1999.
