Department of Defense news release (June 26, 2006): flag officer assignments.Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Mike Mullen announced the following flag officer assignments: Rear Adm. Steven L. Enewold is being assigned as vice commander, Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent Patuxent (pətŭk`sənt), river, c.100 mi (160 km) long, rising in central Md. and flowing SE to Chesapeake Bay. Its estuary is a deepwater anchorage, and the river has important oyster beds. River, Md. Enewold is currently serving as director for Joint Strike Fighter, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Washington, D.C. Washington, D.C., capital of the United States, coextensive (since 1878, when Georgetown became a part of Washington) with the District of Columbia (2000 pop. 572,059), on the Potomac River; inc. 1802. The city is the center of a metropolitan area (1990 pop. 3,923,574) extending into Maryland and Virginia. With the city of Baltimore to its north in Maryland, it forms a consolidated metropolitan area of some 6.7 million people. Rear Adm. (lower half) John C. Orzalli is being assigned as commander, Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center, Norfolk, Va. Orzalli is currently serving as deputy director, Fleet Readiness Division, N43B, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C. Rear Adm. (lower half)(selectee) Steven R. Eastburg is being assigned as assistant commander for Research and Engineering, Air 4.0, Naval Air Systems Command/commander, Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (ADOO), Patuxent River, Md.
