System Provides Comprehensive, Configurable and Flexible Airfare Search Advantages in Real-Time

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- ITA Software, the leading provider of innovative airline IT solutions and services, today announced that its airfare pricing, shopping and availability management system, QPX, has been selected to help upgrade the Defense Travel System (DTS), the Defense Department's integrated, automated travel and travel management system.

"Interfacing with ITA Software's commercial shopping engine is a key enhancement of the significant software upgrade DTS rolled out in February. ITA Software is playing an integral part in the Reservation Refresh Project for the Defense Travel System by providing advanced technology that reduces travel costs and simplifies travel management. Using the Web-based DTS, travelers can quickly and efficiently generate travel authorizations, make trip reservations, route travel requests for approval, submit claims for approval and get reimbursed via an electronic funds transfer. When making reservations, DTS utilizes ITA Software's airfare pricing, shopping and availability management system to provide travelers with real-time availability data on flight schedules and fares.

Advantages provided by ITA Software's QPX system include:

* The ability to display airfare pricing and availability information in a single screen; ready to be booked by the travelers

* Itinerary results are displayed in a consistent manner, irrespective of which GDS the traveler's Commercial Travel Office (CTO) utilizes

* Offering configurable search criteria for -CA, YCA, MZ and other government negotiated fares

With ITA Software's system, the enhanced DTS also provides the ability to route an itinerary via a General Services Administration (GSA) city pair instead of connecting through non-GSA city pairs, ensuring that the travelers are getting the considerably discounted fares offered through the GSA City Pair Program. The QPX capabilities are also used when there is no GSA contract carrier to search out alternate, nearby destination airports with direct GSA flights, which can also result in considerable savings. Additionally, ITA Software's system provides DTS with the ability to find flights that support the Fly America Act, which requires active duty military, reserve and civilian employees to travel on U.S. flag air carriers unless travel by a foreign air carrier is a matter of necessity.
