Denver students to work alongside United Airlines employees on nationwide 'Take Your Community to Work Day'.


DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 6, 1996--Checking in travelers at airport gates, sorting baggage, working with pilots and flight attendants -- these are a few of the jobs more than 280 students from four local youth and civic organizations and representing nine local schools will tackle as part of "Take Your Community to Work Day" at a number of United Airlines facilities in Denver Denver, city (1990 pop. 467,610), alt. 5,280 ft (1,609 m), state capital, coextensive with Denver co., N central Colo., on a plateau at the foot of the Front Range of the Rocky Mts., along the South Platte River where Cherry Creek meets it; inc. 1861.  on March 6.

United Airlines is the national sponsor for this workplace event aimed at providing students with positive role models and career choices. The program gives students a unique opportunity to spend a day working alongside airport and airline employees.

"Take Your Community to Work Day reflects our corporate commitment to community service," says United Airlines Vice President-Mountain Region Roger Gibson. "We believe that participation in this program will enhance the lives of the students who participate and the lives of the United employee-owners who will spend time with them."

Denver-area students participating in Take Your Community to Work Day will come from four local organizations: Colorado Colorado, state, United States

and alongside airline sales representatives.
