Denver's real-life Santa.


This past Christmas Christmas [Christ's Mass], in the Christian calendar, feast of the nativity of Jesus, celebrated in Roman Catholic and Protestant Churches on Dec. 25. Denver's "Santa" singled out one family in dire need for an exceptional gift. Louis Quezada, Tessa Wittner, and their four children had been told to leave the home of Quezada's parents following an argument. They had been staying at the shelter several days. The stranger gave them $5,000 to find housing.

"He asked if he gave us the money, would we get a house with it," said Quezada. "We said yes."

The Rev. John Lager, director of Samaritan House, described the benefactor's Christmas charity as a "profound" experience for the shelter's residents.
