Dentists on charge of NHS deceit.TWO dentists appeared in court accused of cheating their patients and the NHS NHS abbr. National Health Service NHS (in Britain) National Health Service out of money. Jaspal Singh Bachada and Ikhlaq Hussain had a practice in Blackfriars Avenue, Droitwich. They are both alleged to have charged patients for private treatment but then claimed back the money from the NHS. Both men appeared at Birmingham Magistrates jointly charged with defrauding patients and the NHS's Dental Practice Board. They also face two charges of perverting the course of justice In English or Irish law, perversion of the course of justice is a criminal offence in which someone acts in a manner that in some way prevents justice being served on either themselves or on a third party. Perverting the course of justice is an offence in common law. by altering records of treatment and threatening a staff member by telephone to stop her reporting them to the NHS Counter Fraud and Security Management Service The NHS Counter Fraud and Security Management Service (NHS CFSMS) is the organisation with the remit to protect the staff, assets and resources of the NHS in England and Wales. Since the 1st of April 2006 it has been an autonomous arm of the NHS Business Services Authority. . Bachada, 35, of Redlake Drive, Stourbridge, is also charged with three counts of false accounting by dishonestly claiming that patients had been treated privately. Hussain, 37, of College Road, Alum Rock, faces a separate accusation of false accounting by dishonestly claiming he'd treated a patient who had been treated by Bachada. Both were remanded on unconditional bail until their case at Birmingham Crown Court in March. |
