For the past 20 years Dr. Albers has lectured throughout North America, Europe and Japan on the selection and use of tooth-colored restoratives and esthetic dentistry. During this time he has received numerous awards for excellence in teaching, service and leadership. Dr. Davis is a Diplomate, examiner and board member of the American Board of Oral Implantology and is currently serving as Board president. CARY H. GANZ, DDS

Dr. Ganz is the co-chief of Implant Dentistry and the Implant Fellowship Program at North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System/North Shore University Hospital, where he has taught since 1973. He also maintains an active private prosthodontic practice in Garden City, N.Y.

Dr. Ganz is widely published on topics including implant prosthodontics, lasers, practice management, advanced dental technologies and the Internet. He has lectured internationally, participated as a teaching mentor for Implants Innovations, Inc., and served as vice president of clinical affairs for DEXIS Digital X-ray. He received his DDS from the NYU College of Dentistry in 1970.

ANTHONY M. IACOPINO, DMD, PHD

Dr. Iacopino is the executive associate dean as well as associate dean for research and graduate studies at the Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee. He is also director of the Wisconsin Geriatric Education Center for Marquette. Previously a practicing prosthodontist, Dr. Iacopino holds certificates in prosthodontics, geriatric dentistry and craniomandibular disorders. He has also been an associate professor in biomedical sciences and prosthodontics and director of the Cellular/Molecular Biology Facility at the Baylor College of Dentistry. While there he was very active in the areas of undergraduate curriculum revision, continuing education and faculty development.

A widely published author, Dr. Iacopino has received numerous research grants and awards from NIH and other prestigious institutions. His areas of interest include wound healing/inflammation and the relationship of periodontal disease to systemic diseases such as diabetes, coronary artery disease and hypercholesterolemia. He received his DMD in 1986 and PhD in biochemistry and molecular biology in 1990 from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

MARK E. JENSEN, DDS, PHD

A general dentist with a private practice in North Oaks, Minn., Dr. Jensen previously taught and conducted research at both the University of Minnesota and University of Iowa dental schools. While on the faculty at the University of Iowa, he established the Center for Clinical Studies. He has lectured internationally and published numerous articles and book chapters on dental materials and tooth decay (cariology).

A Fellow and editorial board member of several distinguished organizations and publications, Dr. Jensen holds a patent on the resin-bonded porcelain crown and maintains a special interest in esthetic and cosmetic dentistry as well as cariology and preventive dentistry. He is a Diplomate of both the American Board of General Dentistry and American Board of Forensic Examiners, and he received his DDS in 1976 and PhD in oral biology in 1982 from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry.

H. EDWARD LYON, DDS

A former dental officer with the US Navy, Dr. Lyon enjoyed an 18-year career as a dentist with the US Public Health Service (USPHS). Most notably he served as deputy chief of the dental department for the USPHS' Division of Hospitals, an eight-hospital system with residency and graduate training programs and 26 outpatient clinics.

For 14 years Dr. Lyon was affiliated with the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. As director of the College's continuing education program, he used innovative approaches to bring CE to isolated dentists in Appalachia. For 11 years he edited and contributed to SUMMARIES, an international newsletter approved as a CE resource in several Asian countries. He also served as director and principal investigator for an extended-campus education program for non-urban general dentists administered by the University of Kentucky. LLOYD L. MILLER, DMD

Dr. Miller has taught both pre- and post-doctoral prosthodontics at the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine since receiving his DMD there in 1958. In addition, he has maintained a private dental practice in Weston, Mass., since 1959 and has owned Gnathos Dental Laboratory, a private laboratory and research facility specializing in high-level ceramics, for more than 30 years.

One of the world's leading clinicians, Dr. Miller has taught and lectured extensively in 16 countries, primarily on esthetics and occlusion. He has received multiple awards for distinguished teaching and service, including the George Moulton Award, the highest award from the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, in February 2000.

DAVID A. NASH, DMD, MS, EDD

Dr. Nash is the William R. Willard Professor of Dental Education at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry, where he served as dean from 1987 to 1997. He has written broadly on dental education, including issues of teaching and learning, academic leadership, clinical pediatric dentistry and professional ethics. He has served as a visiting professor at more than half of the nation's colleges of dentistry as well as several international universities.

A member of several distinguished dental societies, Dr. Nash has served on the board of directors of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and has served as president of its College of Diplomates. Dr. Nash received a DMD from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in 1968, an MS and certificate in pediatric dentistry from the University of Iowa in 1970, and an EdD from West Virginia University in 1984.

MARIA PERNO, RDH, MS

Ms. Perno is an international consultant, author and speaker on issues including gender-based medicine and women's health and wellness, the oral/systemic link, nonsurgical periodontal therapy, local delivery of antimicrobials, and immunology and periodontal diseases. She is one of two delegates to the International Federation of Dental Hygienists from the American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA) and is a past president of ADHA. She is a former group program chair and symposium coordinator for the Oral Health Research Section of the International Association for Dental Research.

Ms. Perno recently served as a media spokesperson for the "Brush Up on Wellness Campaign," designed to educate consumers about the connection between periodontal disease and system disease. She was recently appointed to the Women's Health Advisory Council of the National Women's Health Resource Center. Ms. Perno received an RDH from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Hygiene in 1972 and a master's of health science from San Francisco State University.

TITUS K.L. SCHLEYER, DMD, PHD

Dr. Schleyer is recognized internationally as a foremost expert in the emerging field of dental informatics. Currently he serves as associate professor and chairman of the department of dental informatics at Temple University School of Dentistry. He has not only conceptualized and implemented several dental informatics courses but has taught numerous continuing education courses on computer-related topics around the world.

Dr. Schleyer is a prolific author who in recent years has published a book and 13 peer-reviewed articles. He is the associate editor for informatics and technology at the Journal of the American Dental Association as well as reviewer for informatics-related topics in the Journal of Dental Education, Quintessence International, the Journal of Prosthodontics and Dentalcare.com. He has a DMD and PhD in molecular biology from the University of Frankfurt am Main School of Dentistry, a DMD from Temple University School of Dentistry and an MBA in health administration from Temple University School of Business.

BRUCE W. SMALL, DMD

Since 1974 Dr. Small has maintained a private dental practice in Lawrenceville, N.J., concentrating on clinical excellence in restorative dentistry. He is a clinical assistant professor at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, where he received his DMD in 1974 and which granted him its prestigious Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1998. Dr. Small also edits the esthetic dentistry column in General Dentistry, the journal of the Academy of General Dentistry.

During the past 15 years Dr. Small has presented educational programs internationally about his experiences with clinical dentistry. He developed one of the first esthetic dentistry protocol courses in the United States and is the co-developer of the Hybrid Crown(TM), a combination ceramic veneer and metal crown introduced in 1974. Recently he opened the Institute of New Techniques in Dentistry, a fully equipped training facility and laboratory for hands-on teaching.

GEZA T. TEREZHALMY, DDS, MA

Dr. Terezhalmy is a professor of diagnostic dental science at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. In addition, he is an adjunct professor of oral medicine at Case Western Reserve University School of Dentistry; a consultant in oral medicine/pharmacology at the Naval Dental School, National Naval Dental Center; and a section editor for oral medicine, diagnostics and therapeutics of Quintessence International. He is certified by the American Board of Oral Medicine and the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.

An international lecturer whose research activities have focused on infection control, pain management and special patient care, Dr. Terezhalmy has contributed numerous book chapters and published more than 100 papers and abstracts. He received a DDS from Case Western Reserve University in 1971, a certificate in oral medicine from the National Naval Dental Center in 1977 and an MA in higher education from the George Washington University in 1987.

BARRY D. WAGENBERG, DMD

Dr. Wagenberg is currently the director of dental education at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. A Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontics, he has taught dentistry since 1971 and has maintained a full-time private practice in New Jersey since 1976. His teaching career includes appointments at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, where he received his DMD in 1971, and Columbia University, where he received a certificate in periodontics in 1974. Dr. Wagenberg also practiced periodontics in the U.S. Air Force.

Continuing dental education has been a focus for Dr. Wagenberg. He has served on CE program committees for the New Jersey Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology and American Academy of Osseointegration. Dr. Wagenberg has also served as chairman of the Mucogingival and Augmentation Section of the World Workshop of Periodontics. He has lectured and written extensively about both periodontics and implant dentistry.
