Dental specialist conned business partner.AN AWARD-WINNING dentist has pleaded guilty to swindling his former business partner. Viren Patel, 51, of Llancarfan, in the Vale of Glamorgan, admitted two charges at Cardiff Magistrates' Court in connection with altering the valuation of the dental practice he ran with Lloyd Jenkins to pounds 20,000 below its true worth. The court was told the deceit took place between December 1, 2000, and April 9, 2001, and he was charged under the Forgery & Counterfeiting Act. Mr Patel has run the Orthodontic orthodontic (ôr´th adj Centre, Cardiff Gate Business Park, Pontprennau, since 1989, according to its website. He qualified as a dentist in Cardiff in 1980 and served for five years as a Surgeon Lieutenant in the Royal Navy. In 1985, he worked in the Department of Facial and Maxillofacial Surgery at Southampton General Hospital Southampton General Hospital is a large District General Hospital (DGH) in Southampton, operated by the Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust. The hospital was the location for the daytime TV fly-on-the-wall documentary series, The General. and returned to Cardiff in 1986. The practice was in the final of the UK Dentistry Awards in the Best Practice and Best Team categories in 2007, and won prizes for Best Welsh Practice and Best Teammember in 2006.
