JS * LBD stands for Les Bambinos Dangereuses, and consists of three 15-year-old English girls--Ronnie, Fleur, Claude--who have a series of misadventures maintaining friendships and attracting and keeping and/or punishing pun·ish v. pun·ished, pun·ish·ing, pun·ish·es v.tr. 1. To subject to a penalty for an offense, sin, or fault. 2. To inflict a penalty for (an offense). 3. boyfriends. This is the second book of a series, following LBD. These high-tech girls could not survive a day without their cell phones, computers and iPods to keep them connected with each other and the world of music. The tone is lively, the action fast-paced. The British slang is very much in the mode of Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging Noun 1. snogging - (British informal) cuddle and kiss caressing, cuddling, fondling, hugging, kissing, petting, smooching, snuggling, necking - affectionate play (or foreplay without contact with the genital organs) and other Georgia Nicolson novels by Louise Rennison, and yet highly literate, which often creates a comic effect. The characterizations and predicaments are laughout-loud funny. Much of the action centers on the girls' attendance at a weekend music festival in middle of a fruit tree farm, a setting reminiscent of Woodstock, and their encounters with rock stars and other hangers-on as they sort out their feelings and responses to the boys who cross their paths. Girls on both sides of the Atlantic should enjoy the LBD's series of unfortunate and fortunate events. Themes include girl power, being responsible for your own body, the often-overlooked usefulness of parents, and having fun. Myrna Marler, Assoc.
