Dennehy's goals push Churchill past Thurston.

Bryn Dennehy scored on a penalty kick in the 70th minute to give Churchill a 2-1 victory over visiting Thurston in Midwestern League boys soccer Monday.

Marist bounced back from Friday's loss to Philomath with a 2-0 victory at Cottage Grove Cottage Grove, village (1990 pop. 22,935), Washington co., SE Minn., near the St. Croix River; inc. 1965. There is farming (cattle, sheep, corn, and soybeans) and manufacturing (chemicals and machinery).  in District 5 play.

Hayley Maxwell scored in the first minute off a Brigitte Stager assist for the Spartans, who got an unassisted goal from Colleen Conklin.

Nicky Younger and Holly Kanig combined in goal for the shutout.

Andrea Ceniga scored one goal and assisted on another as visiting Junction City Junction City, city (1990 pop. 20,604), seat of Geary co., NE Kans., at the confluence of the Republican and Smoky Hill rivers; inc. 1859. The rail, trade, and processing center of an agricultural and dairy area, it grew as the supply point for nearby Fort Riley,  beat Santiam Christian 3-1 and stayed tied with Marist for second place in District 5.

Lanae Moody scored an unassisted goal in the 15th minute, and Christie Richards scored off Ceniga's assist in the 38th minute for a 2-0 halftime lead. Ceniga's goal came in the 60th minute with Danielle Hanson assisting.

Volleyball

Amanda Miller had 11 kills and Alicia Hochstetler had 13 assists and 11 digs to lead Fairview Christian to a 19-25, 20-25, 25-15, 25-17, 15-13 victory over visiting Crow in Mountain West League play.

Janelle Raimer served 13 aces and had nine assists, and Katie Green added three kills and four aces to lead Lowell (5-1) to a 25-11, 25-7, 25-14 Mountain West League victory over visiting Oregon School for the Deaf Oregon School for the Deaf (OSD), is a public school in Salem, Oregon, serving deaf and hard of hearing students of kindergarten through high school grades through residential, day school, and part-time enrollment programs. .
