MORRISTOWN, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 22, 2001

Dendrite dendrite: see nervous system; synapse.  (NASDAQ/NMS: DRTE DRTE Defence Research Telecommunications Establishment ), the visionary innovator in global pharmaceutical technology, today announced that it has opened a new Representative Office in Shanghai, China, to begin service to that country's growing pharmaceutical industry.

Dendrite's office will offer a broad range of services for both Chinese and international pharmaceutical companies operating in China.

"Pharmaceutical sales forces are growing faster in China than in any other market," said Jean-Paul Modde, Dendrite Vice President, Asia/Pacific. "As a result, the industry is being challenged to make its sales forces as productive as possible. Our new office in Shanghai will help drug companies achieve their growing requirements and ambitious sales goals, offering enormous potential for both them and Dendrite."

Dendrite also announced that it recently signed a new multi-year services contract with the Chinese division of a large European pharmaceutical company. Under the agreement, the company will deploy a palm-top version of Medicheck(TM) for its entire sales force in China.

The new contract adds to Dendrite's existing client base in that country. Two additional companies in China are using Dendrite's Medicheck(TM) solution; the recent contract marks the first deployment of a Dendrite palm-top solution in China.

Medicheck(TM) is a component of Dendrite's Sales Force Effectiveness solution set that has been developed specifically to meet the needs of pharmaceutical sales forces in Asia, Latin America Latin America, the Spanish-speaking, Portuguese-speaking, and French-speaking countries (except Canada) of North America, South America, Central America, and the West Indies. , Eastern Europe Eastern Europe
