Den Norske Bank Chooses Baltimore Technologies for Online Security.

Den Norske Bank licenses J/CRYPTO See cryptography. for Secure Online Banking

Den Norske Bank, has chosen software from Baltimore Technologies, the leaders in encryption and certification technology, to implement a secure banking infrastructure for retail customers.

Den Norske Bank is Norway's largest financial services group and is at the forefront of offering secure banking services over the Internet.

Using the J/CRYPTO Java toolkit from Baltimore Technologies, Den Norske Bank will build a secure framework to provide retail customers with a fast, efficient and safe way of paying bills and obtaining account information online. The Internet Bank will be established during 1998 with a limited number of users and will be fully operational in 1999. The use of Java technology will enable the security system to be adapted for other Internet banking applications both internally and externally.

Baltimore's J/CRYPTO 3.0 is a highly optimised and comprehensive cryptography library that provides a range of cryptographic functions. It was initially released in April 1997 and has been licensed to a wide range of company's world-wide including RSA Data Security.

The Den Norske Bank project is being managed by Andersen Consulting who will co-ordinate the implementation of this new architecture.

Baltimore's J/CRYPTO, pure java toolkit, was chosen because of its effective code and features required to fulfill the strict security requirements that our solution required. One selling point was its ability to integrate with Wallet solutions and Smart Card technology," commented Tor Krattebol, Project Manager, Andersen Consulting.
