Den Hartogh Deploys Expand to Enable Citrix Rollout as Part of Larger Server Consolidation Project; Expand Provides Platform of Tightly Integrated Technologies for Rapid Delivery of Citrix Applications to all Remote Offices.

READING, England -- Expand Networks, a leader in application acceleration over the wide area network (WAN) announced today that Den Hartogh Logistics, a specialist Logistics Service Provider for the petrochemical industry has deployed Expand Accelerators to support the consolidation of local file servers and a WAN roll-out of Citrix to all 14 of the company's European remote offices.

Den Hartogh has a highly distributed infrastructure with application servers residing in remote offices across Europe. The company found that the cost and complexity involved in the maintenance, upgrade and back-up of remote servers was growing rapidly. To address these remote IT challenges, Den Hartogh initiated a server consolidation project that involved centralising application remote access via Citrix. While this would simplify IT in the remote office, server consolidation raised a new set of challenges. These included the performance burden placed on the WAN for remote access as well as the prohibitive cost implications of upgrading WAN bandwidth to cope with long-haul data transfers of its networked assets such as MS Office and an ERP system that processes information from satellite navigation and storage terminals to support the 1,500 vehicles the company has on the road at any one time.

With a complete dependence on its IT infrastructure, Den Hartogh needed guarantees that the performance of its network and critically its Citrix architecture would not be affected by the server consolidation project.
