Demonstrators block Kabul-Jalalabad Highway

KABUL (PAN): The main Kabul-Jalalabad Highway was blocked for one hour due to demonstration protest of disables in eastern Sarobi district of capital Kabul earlier Monday afternoon.

Jamal Ahmad, a local driver told Pajhwok Afghan News over telephone the protest started at 3:00pm and lasted for one hour. Large numbers of passenger buses and civilian cars were stranded on both sides of the road due to the protest, he added.

The protesters demanded more portions in the wheat aid distribution to the area people by Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority ANDMA, said Lal Muhammad, a tribal elder of the district.

He added the demonstrators blocked the way of Jilani Popal, head of local organs while he was passing the highway. The demonstration latter ended peacefully, said Qazi Suleman, Sarobi district chief.
