(Industry and Institute News).The Appraisal Institute The Appraisal Institute (Institute), headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, is an international association of professional real estate appraisers.[1] It was founded in January 1991 when the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers (AIREA) and the is considering to re-introduce the four-day lock-in for those residential associate members who haven't finished their demo report. The lock-in is not a course or seminar but an independent learning experience with individualized in·di·vid·u·al·ize tr.v. in·di·vid·u·al·ized, in·di·vid·u·al·iz·ing, in·di·vid·u·al·iz·es 1. To give individuality to. 2. To consider or treat individually; particularize. 3. guidance from expert graders/instructors, who will answer questions and direct associates to appropriate text materials to keep them on the right path to successful completion of the demonstration process. The lock-in provides an environment away from daily distractions and allows the appraiser to concentrate on writing the demonstration report. To attend the lock-in, associates must have completed all required course work, including course 500; have all four days dedicated to the lock-in; and have submitted five URAR URAR Uniform Residential Appraisal Report (FMNA 1004) reports from their files a minimum of one month prior to the lock-in.
