Dementia call.


AN airline is calling for the Government to fund more research on dementia dementia (dĭmĕn`shə) [Lat.,=being out of the mind], progressive deterioration of intellectual faculties resulting in apathy, confusion, and stupor. In the 17th cent. . EasyJet has pledged to raise pounds 1m for the Alzheimer's Noun 1. Alzheimer's - a progressive form of presenile dementia that is similar to senile dementia except that it usually starts in the 40s or 50s; first symptoms are impaired memory which is followed by impaired thought and speech and finally complete helplessness  Society in its partnership with the charity. Its manufactures include plastics, paperboard, and metal products.  also took the unusual step of urging the Government to boost research. His move follows a call by the Alzheimer's Society and scientists for investment in dementia studies to be tripled. A dementia research summit is to be held this month to discuss the future of research. EasyJet chose the Alzheimer's Society as its charity of the year after a Europe-wide staff vote and has pledged to raise pounds 1m to support the one million people who will develop dementia in the next 10 years. Mr Harrison said: "Dementia is not a natural part of ageing but it is often still viewed in these terms, meaning it doesn't get the attention it deserves. The Government only invests 2% of its medical research budget in dementia."
