As part of Dematic's continued effort to offer new products focused on low total cost of ownership, throughput, and increased availability, the new S-L 300 sorter uses a sophisticated system speed and flow control that increases sortation rates to 300 cartons per minute-10-20% faster than other sortation solutions.

Bill Veit, sortation product manager for Dematic, the key to the increased sort rates with the S-L 300 is a new parallel divert technology. "The new divert technology allows packages to be spaced much closer together, yet still be easily diverted effectively," said Veit. "This improved efficiency results in increased throughput at overall slower sortation speeds, saving companies energy while improving package handling."

"Dematic's sortation solutions are focused on saving our customers time and money," added Dematic's Veit. "With the S-L 300, Dematic is taking sortation to the next level, where customers can sort more products more efficiently, with reduced maintenance, all while incorporating this into an overall supply chain strategy."

When customers install the new S-L 300, the modular aluminum construction of the S-L 300 allows for a more flexible installation and can accommodate future modification more easily.

Using web technology, Dematic's sorter and system control systems have been designed to operate the entire sortation area as one virtual machine. With this optimized system operation from a single interface, users can monitor, manage and analyze critical sortation system parameters from pre merge accumulation, system central merge, induction, sortation, take-away take·a·way

"In the past, an operator was the only person who could see what the system was doing, often by actually looking," added Veit. "Now operators, managers and maintenance technicians can view the system status and operating mode from any networked computer. Operators can easily change the priority applied to how products from different sources are handled. Production can be tracked and speeds can be selected to automatically suit the production requirements."
