Demarc's new time-based rules provides the only SNORT-based solution in the market to address this vulnerability for organizations working towards governmental compliance. As an upgrade to existing firewall defenses, Sentarus provides a comprehensive detection and prevention solution that protects the network and host systems from the inside out.

Demarc customers are now able to create policies to control network and system access by implementing user-designated time periods for both network and host-based activity. Restricting access to financial and other sensitive systems, including customer data, is a key component of compliance with current legislation such as the Healthcare Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, and the California Security Breach Information Act.

Companies that provide access to users working remotely, and to third parties such as contractors, vendors or service providers, need to implement authorized access controls restricting third party access to remain compliant as well as to maintain effective security policies. Many files and systems are normally accessed only during standard work hours. Using the new time-based rules, Sentarus customers can be notified of access to systems when it occurs outside of user-designated time periods and block or quarantine the access as appropriate.

Sentarus provides the ability to correlate seemingly unrelated events happening at different layers of the network to provide a complete picture of potential intrusion attempts that would otherwise sneak past the firewall and other perimeter defenses.
