Demarc Security, the industry leader in host network security, announced today that more than 100,000 Snort(R) users are eligible to upgrade to Sentarus(TM) Enterprise. This offer extends to all competing Snort-based IDS/IPS solutions, as well as to users of Demarc Pure Secure.

by the complexity of and the number of alerts reported by the Snort engine," said Bill Wall, Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Demarc Security, Inc. "Separating the relevant alerts from the irrelevant is one of the strengths that make Sentarus so attractive to security professionals. Starting with the host, we layer network security and firewall integration into a unified, comprehensive management console A terminal or workstation used to monitor and control a network. See Microsoft Management Console. ."

Sentarus Enterprise, with its innovative Smart-Layered(TM) technology, delivers complete 360 degree defense by integrating stand-alone security services Security services are state institutions for the provision of intelligence, primarily of a strategic nature, but also including protective security intelligence. Examples include the Security Service (MI5) and the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) in the United Kingdom, and the  for host, network and perimeter security. Sentarus simplifies Snort by providing context to the incoming security and vulnerability information that empowers customers to respond rapidly and defend against threats. Viewing, reporting and acting upon security threats are now possible across islands of security -- hosts, networks and firewalls.

Vulnerability scanning is critical to reducing the number of irrelevant alerts. Some vendors claim passive scanning is all you need and even charge extra for a limited implementation of this feature. Leading industry analysts report that passive and active scanning are both critical to maintaining a strong defense. Sentarus includes both passive and active scanning.

As an independent security provider, Demarc protects customer firewall investments. Sentarus integrates with leading firewall vendors without preference. Competitive solutions typically require a complete fork-lift upgrade to your firewall infrastructure to achieve the same level of integration that is available from Sentarus today.
