Demand for Java Engineers Increases with Continued Growth in Smart Hand-Held Devices According to RGA.

"The need is tremendous because more and more applications are being added to hand held devices like phones and PDAs," says Stewart. According to Canalys, (http://www.canalys.com) a world leading market research and analysis firm, the year-to-year growth rate for smart mobile devices continues at a consistent 55% (same as the past 2 quarters). The pure handheld segment fell 33%, but smart phones increased to a 75% growth rate, exhibiting the convergence of these market segments and concomitant flip in unit type shipments. Stewart said that "creating the many new applications for smart phones has enabled such overall strong growth and will continue for the foreseeable future," hence the expanding need for qualified Java developers.

As the rush to just get a website on the net has waned, most companies are focusing on site enhancements or redesigns with more sophistication coupled with greater user friendliness. Although this is a separate market segment within software development, it becomes related because of the need for Java developers to create the back end for these new sites and the resulting demand for engineers that are already being pursued for the smart mobile device industry. Within the website segment, the new requirements have also accelerated demand for experienced User Interface (UI) designers with significant human factors knowledge. A Google(TM) search for companies in the category "Software Development" shows that there are over 15,000 companies involved in this market segment, dramatically increasing the pressure on finding and hiring qualified software engineers.
