Delta and Pine Land Company, Scott, Miss., announces that its joint venture with MaxyAg Inc., DeltaMax Cotton LLC, has initiated cotton transformation of a proprietary glyphosate tolerant gene. The company hopes this product will eventually compete in the glyphosate tolerant cotton seed market, which made up more than 70 percent of the cotton planted in the United States in 2002, according to USDA figures.
