Delta Design and Teradyne Preview iCell Integrated Production Test Solution at SEMICON Europa.

Business Editors & High-Tech Writers

SEMICON Europa

POWAY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 12, 2002

Cohu, Inc. (NASDAQ:COHU) through its Delta Design subsidiary and Teradyne (NYSE:TER) announced today that they will preview iCell, a turnkey, integrated, production test solution at the industry tradeshow SEMICON Europa, April 16-18 in Munich, Germany. iCell is the synergistic combination of a Teradyne test system with a Delta Design handler operating as a fully integrated test cell utilizing cell automation software, an optimized tester manipulator and docking system, cell-level diagnostic tools, and single point-of-service global support.

Aimed at continuing to reduce the cost of test, iCell is an integrated solution developed jointly by Teradyne and Delta Design. Approaching the test process as integrated manufacturing and by developing hardware and software to optimize how the test engineer interfaces with the test cell, iCell will reduce cycle time, maximize throughput, and increase the number of devices that are tested in parallel. These features are combined with a single point-of-service for improved cell diagnostics and customer support to reduce test cell downtime. The increased convenience and lower cost of test of iCell translate into a high level of customer satisfaction.

The iCell preview at SEMICON Europa will feature Teradyne's Integra J750 tester and the Delta Design Castle handler as a completely integrated test cell. iCell is compatibly matched to Teradyne's Integra Family of test systems including the recently announced Integra FLEX.

John Adams, Integrated Test Cell Product Manager, Teradyne, said, "In today's competitive semiconductor market, time is money and our customers need every possible advantage. iCell lowers the cost of test by reducing lot processing time, reducing MTTR MTTR - Mean Time To Restore

, and standardizing high parallel test. The resulting increase in throughput means our customers will need fewer test cells per volume of devices. It's a total solution providing easy, one-stop shopping at the lowest cost of test."

"Process control is the next step in test optimization. Teradyne and Delta Design have taken that step in response to numerous customer requests," said Kent Blumenshine, Product Marketing Manager, Delta Design. "iCell provides improved process control by seamlessly integrating Teradyne's high-performance test systems, Delta Design's advanced handler products, and easy-to-use cell control software to maximize throughput."
