Dell Stretches Multimedia Experience; New Display Allows Customers to See More, Spend Less.

ROUND ROCK, Texas -- Dell's (NASDAQ:DELL) premiere wide-screen flat panel display provides customers with an expanded viewing experience, minimizing image loss during gaming or video playback, as well as the need to scroll within large documents and toggle between application windows.

With the launch of the new Dell UltraSharp(TM) 2005FPW, Dell -- the worldwide leader in LCD monitor shipments(a) -- maintains its commitment to provide customers the latest flat panel technology at competitive prices. The 2005FPW is available today for $799.

The 2005FPW's wide-aspect screen (16:10 aspect ratio) is designed to allow users to see documents and images in greater detail, view spreadsheets and blueprints in their full sizes and position multiple applications and Web pages side-by-side. Games optimized for wide-screens can be played in full-screen mode without distortion, and the panel's 12ms response times(b) help diminish the ghosting and smearing that can accompany games' rapidly-moving images. When attached to a computer system with a DVD drive, the Dell UltraSharp 2005FPW also is ideal for displaying DVDs in their original format.

In addition, the 2005FPW includes inputs for analog, digital, S-video and composite connections. Picture-in-Picture (PIP) and picture-by-picture (PBP) features, which allow customers to view video and graphics inputs simultaneously, can be activated with a touch of a button. This makes applications such as video editing and computer-aided-design (CAD) easier by displaying both source and destination video in a single window.

The 2005FPW features four USB 2.0 ports and a height-adjustable stand, allowing the panel to swivel, tilt and pivot into portrait orientation. Its optional sound bar, which attaches to the bottom of the panel, is as space-saving as it is powerful, delivering 14 watts of audio output.
