Dell Names Russell Holt to Head New PowerVault Storage Business Unit.

Now the sixth-largest provider of storage products worldwide(1), Dell achieved 70 percent growth in year-over-year sales of external storage products in the second quarter, and reported overall storage sales were approaching $1 billion annually.

Mr. Holt, 39, will head the new unit as vice president and general manager responsible for worldwide development and marketing of Dell PowerVault Dell PowerVault products include disk enclosures, disk arrays, tape drives, autoloaders, tape libraries, network attached storage and storage area networks. Some of these products are provided through a partnership with EMC Corporation and are further classified as a Dell/EMC  storage products.

Mr. Holt joined Dell in 1998 as director of engineering for Dell's server products, and most recently was vice president and general manager for Dell's Departmental and Workgroup PowerEdge Servers. He has made significant contributions in advancing the company from a No. 4 worldwide server market share position to its current No. 2 ranking.
