Dell Announces Cyberspace Modular Classroom; Company Broadens Education Product Portfolio With Technology-Rich Modular Building, Curriculum Software and Peripherals.

Dell (Nasdaq:DELL) and Williams Scotsman Inc. today unveiled a modular classroom fully equipped with computer systems and peripherals designed to help public schools cope with growing student populations.

Cyberspaces(tm), a turnkey classroom, can be customized to the needs of a school or district with a wireless or wired network, desktop or notebook computers A laptop computer that weighs in a range from five to seven pounds. The term originated when laptops were routinely more than 10 pounds, and those that became lighter were placed in a special "notebook" category. Software and Peripherals

Further broadening its education product portfolio, Dell today also announced the availability of a variety of software products for K-12 customers. The software, which is grouped by grade level, comes in two categories -- curriculum software and productivity software. The curriculum software includes subjects such as math, science, reading and social studies. Dell also recently announced the Dell 3100 MP projector, a 3.5-pound unit that is ideal for the education market. The $2,499(a) projector uses Digital Light Processing(tm)(b) technology, enabling crisp, bright images while significantly reducing size and weight. The projector can display images at up to 294 diagonal inches, nearly five times the size of the largest home television sets.
