Dell ``Fuels'' Program That Awards Conoco Employees With Technology; Energy Company Offers Employees New Technology for Personal Development, Education.

Business Editors & High-Tech/Energy Writers

AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 27, 2001

Dell (Nasdaq:DELL) today confirmed that it is supplying Dell computer systems and other technology through its Employee Purchase Program to Conoco as part of a worldwide program in which the energy company's 12,000 employees will have the opportunity to acquire free systems for home use.

Conoco is subsidizing 100 percent of the cost of the equipment as a way to invest in its employees' personal development and education and has already generated 7,000 Dell orders since the launch of the program in late February.

Conoco chose Dell to run the EPP (1) (Enhanced Parallel Port) See IEEE 1284.

Nelson said the Dell desktop computer is the most popular item to date, followed by the digital camcorder. "We wanted to give the employees a choice and Dell was able to provide not only the computers, but all of the latest technology and great service," said Nelson.

Steve Felice, vice president and general manager of the Dell Enterprise segment said, "Dell is pleased to be able to offer Conoco's employees a variety of products from one source. The program has been a huge success and is a reflection both of Conoco's commitment to its employees and Dell's ability to provide its customers a single point of contact on a worldwide basis."

Conoco launched the program at an employee meeting in the U.S., followed by road shows to various locations worldwide. The road shows were coordinated by and staffed with Dell customer service representatives and product experts ready to answer employees' questions, take orders, and allow employees to play with the equipment. "Dell was flexible, listened to what we wanted to do, and worked with us to develop a plan to make it happen," said Nelson.
