Delightful nonsense; REVIEWS: DOCTOR DOLITTLE Birmingham Hippodrome.

GIANT pink snails, lunar moths, twoheaded llamas - Doctor Dolittle is utter nonsense but it is also an utter delight.

At the centre is Tommy Steele Tommy Steele OBE (born December 17, 1936 in London, England) is an English entertainer. Steele is widely regarded as Britain's first pop idol. Born Thomas Willam Hicks , who may be well past pensionable age but can still caper caper, common name for members of the Capparidaceae, a family of tropical plants found chiefly in the Old World and closely related to the family Cruciferae (mustard family).  round the stage with the best of them. You can't help but love him as he fends off evil fox hunters, rescues injured ducks and travels the world in search of science.

Surrounding him are a great supporting cast, particularly Abigail Jaye as a feisty Emma Fairfax and Halcro Johnston as the hideous Bellowes.

A family show in the best of traditions.

It runs until May 17.
