Delaware considers mandatory recycling.


Delaware's Recycling recycling, the process of recovering and reusing waste products—from household use, manufacturing, agriculture, and business—and thereby reducing their burden on the environment.  Public Advisory Council met in early January to work on a bill creating a mandatory statewide recycling program.

The council sought final approval on documents that contained recommendations for implementing the recycling program prior to submitting them to Gov. Ruth Ann Minner Ruth Ann Minner (born January 17 1935) is an American politician and businesswoman from Milford, in Kent County, Delaware. She is a member of the Democratic Party, who served in the Delaware General Assembly, two terms as Lieutenant Governor of Delaware, and is the incumbent  and members of the General Assembly. The documents forwarded include a Final Summary Report describing the program, a Public Comment Response Document listing the issues raised by the public and the council's responses and draft legislation.

If the bill becomes law, residents would be required to collect cans, plastic and paper for recycling and the state would ban yard waste from landfills. The single-stream program would exclude glass because of concerns that it would contaminate con·tam·i·nate
