Del Taco Names Barry B. Barnhart Vice President, Franchise Operations.LAKE FOREST, Calif. -- Del Taco Del Taco is a chain of North American fast-food restaurants specializing in Mexican-style offerings as well as American foods such as burgers, fries and shakes. The first Del Taco restaurant was founded in Yermo, California in 1961 by Ed Hackbarth and David Jameson. has named Barry B. Barnhart as vice president of franchise operations, a new company position. He will be reporting to company president Shirlene Lopez. Barnhart has been in the restaurant business for 35 years. He comes to Del Taco from Yum! Brands Yum! Brands, Inc. (NYSE: YUM) or Yum! is a Fortune 500 corporation, that operates or licenses A&W (excluding Canada), KFC, Long John Silver's, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell restaurants worldwide. Based in Louisville, Kentucky, it is the world's largest quick-service (a.k.a. Inc., where he held several positions over the past eight years, most recently region vice president responsible for 115 company-operated restaurants for the Louisville, Ky.-based company whose restaurants include A&W All American Food and Long John Silver's. In his new role at Del Taco, Barnhart will support franchisee efforts to build and open new restaurants and improve existing franchise restaurants. Del Taco is aggressively adding to its franchise portfolio in markets across the country. In the past year, Del Taco has opened restaurants in new markets including Detroit, Seattle and the greater Chicago area.
